SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
1.1. The proposed concentration concerns the acquisition by ALSTOM Holdings ("ALSTOM") of sole control over the transmission (high voltage) and a limited number of other activities of Areva T&D Holding SA ("Areva T&D"), through a consortium with Schneider Electric Industries S.A.S.
2.2. ALSTOM is active globally in the manufacture and supply of equipment and services for power generation and rail transport.
3.3. Areva T&D is active globally in the manufacture and supply of equipment for the transmission and distribution of electricity and related services. ALSTOM is not active in this area.
4.4. ALSTOM considers that the proposed transaction raises no competition concerns and, thus, will not significantly impede effective competition in the common market or in a substantial part of it.
