SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
On 22 October 2019 the Commission received a notification pursuant to Article 4 of Council Regulation (EC) 139/2004 relating to the proposed acquisition of sole control of Hudson Energy Supply UK Limited (the “Target”) by Shell Energy Retail Limited (the “Buyer”), by way of an acquisition of shares (the "Proposed Transaction"). The Buyer is part of the Shell Group of companies (the “Shell Group”), the ultimate parent of which is Royal Dutch Shell plc.
The Target is currently active in the retail supply of energy to household and business customers in the UK. Shell is a global group of energy and petrochemical companies with businesses including oil and gas exploration, production, manufacturing, marketing and shipping of oil products and chemicals, and renewable energy products.
