SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
The Transaction concerns the acquisition by Cofatech Servizi S.p.a. of sole control of a number of thermoelectric power plants currently owned by Edison S.p.A. The power plants are located in Italy and generate steam and electricity combined.
Cofathec Servizi is an Italian company belonging to the Cofathec Group. The latter provides a wide range of energy related services in Italy and across Europe, namely energy management services, facility management services, installation of cogeneration plants, installation of tele-heating systems. Cofathec is solely controlled by the Gaz de France Group (GDF), one of the leading gas suppliers in Europe.
The above acquisition will allow Cofatech to enter the market for generation of electricity in Italy as well as diversify and expand its customer base.
