SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
The notified concentration concerns the acquisition of joint control over a greenfield full-function joint venture, by Electricité de France (EDF), Siemens Energy, Nebras Power and QuWatt. It concerns a natural gas fired power project in Uzbekistan. The joint venture will be commercially operational only in Uzbekistan. It will not have any activities within, or affecting, the EEA.
The EDF Group is mainly active in France and abroad in the electricity markets, and in particular in electricity production and wholesale supply, trading, transmission, distribution and retail supply. To a lesser extent, the EDF Group is also active in the supply of gas and in the provision of energy services.
The Siemens Energy group is active in energy technology and infrastructure. It develops, manufactures, and supplies products, solutions, and services across the energy value chain including generation, transmission, and storage, as well as industrial applications, comprising a broad portfolio from conventional to renewables.
Nebras is a company of the Nebras Power Group, active in the energy sector (particularly clean energy). The Nebras Power Group owns, develops and invests in greenfield developments and brownfield projects in the power and water sectors. The ultimate controller of Nebras is Qatar Electricity and Water Company Q.P.S.C., which engages in the production of electricity and desalinated water in Qatar.
QuWatt is a holding company incorporated in the Netherlands that develops energy projects in Uzbekistan.
