SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
1.1.1 This notification relates to the proposed acquisition by INEOS ChlorVinyls of the PVC business of the Tessenderlo Group.
1.1.2 INEOS ChlorVinyls is one of the major chlor-alkali producers in Europe and a significant manufacturer of PVC. It is part of the wider INEOS group of companies. INEOS is a global manufacturer of petrochemicals, specialty chemicals and oil products. It operates 64 manufacturing facilities in 14 countries throughout the world and employs approximately 15,500 personnel.
1.1.3 Tessenderlo is a diversified international group active in chemical industry, natural derivatives, plastics converting, gelatine, and agricultural solutions.
1.1.4 The only significant overlap between the business activities of INEOS ChlorVinyls and Tessenderlo’s PVC business is in the production of commodity suspension PVC.
