The Court:

1.Declares that the Slovak Republic:

by failing to adopt the measures necessary so that, in the case of the landfill sites of Vlčie Hory, of Bojná, part B and part C – phase I, of Čadca – Podzávoz, of Rajec – Šuja, of Ružomberok – Biela Púť, of Skládka TKO Zubrohlava, of Hnúšťa – Kotlište, of Detva – Studienec – phase II., of Hontianske Tesáre, of Hôrky – Pláne and of Stropkov – Chotča, the conditioning plans for those sites and all the corrective measures be submitted for approval in order that definite decisions could be taken as to whether their operations may continue on the basis of their conditioning plan or in order that those sites be closed down, as soon as possible, has failed to fulfil its obligations under Article 14(a) and (b) of Council Directive 1999/31/EC of 26 April 1999 on the landfill of waste, and

by failing to adopt the measures necessary so that, in the case of the landfill sites of Stupava – Žabáreň, of Bobogdány, of Prietrž, of Veronika Dežerice, of Skládka KO Duslo, of Šahy – Holá Stráž, of Židová – Vráble, of Smutná, of Hnúšťa – Branzová and of Veľká Ves, those sites be closed down as soon as possible, has failed to fulfil its obligations under Article 14(b) of Directive 1999/31;

2.Orders the Slovak Republic to pay the costs.
