SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
The proposed concentration entails BillerudKorsnäs Venture AB’s, Sweden and ALPLA Holding GmbH’s (“ALPLA”), Austria acquisition of joint control over ecoXpac A/S (“ecoXpac”), Denmark. ecoXpac is currently solely controlled by BillerudKorsnäs Venture AB, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BillerudKorsnäs AB (publ) (“BillerudKorsnäs”).
The parties’ activities are as follows:
-- BillerudKorsnäs: manufacturer and supplier of primary fibre based packaging materials. Products include e.g. kraft papers, corrugated case materials and packaging boards;
-- ALPLA: developer and producer of plastic packaging solutions. Products include e.g. packaging systems (i.e. bottles with caps/closure), bottles, closures, injection-moulded parts, preforms and tubes;
-- ecoXpac: research and development focused on moulded pulp solutions for packaging purposes.
