Description of the concentration
The proposed concentration concerns the acquisition of sole control by Amazon.com, Inc. (“Amazon”) of iRobot Corporation (“iRobot”) through the acquisition of its entire issued share capital via an indirect wholly owned subsidiary.
Amazon is headquartered in Seattle, Washington, US and listed on the NASDAQ. It operates in the retail space and offers also media content, electronic devices, and ondemand technology services.
iRobot is a manufacturer of floor care products headquartered in Bedford, Massachusetts, US and listed on the NASDAQ. iRobot designs and builds robot vacuum cleaners that vacuum and/or mop floors. Floor care accounts for the vast majority of its activities. iRobot also sells air purifiers and educational products to a limited extent.
