Marel and Stork N.V. entered into a Share and Business Sale and Purchase Agreement on 28 November 2007, whereby Marel through some of its subsidiaries purchases Stork Food Systems, a division of Stork N.V. The business acquired by Marel comprises shares in several companies as well as assets and liabilities of two subsidiaries of Stork N.V. The transaction concerns the business of food processing equipment, in particular equipment for the primary processing and further processing of livestock.
Marel is primarily active in the development, manufacture, sale and servicing of machinery and systems for processing of fish, red meat and poultry. The companyís products include flowlines and software, grading, batching and packing systems, as well as portioning equipment. Marel has production sites in Iceland, Denmark, United Kingdom, Slovakia, Singapore and USA.
SFS designs, develops, produces, sells and maintains machinery and equipment for food processing. The equipment offered by SFS includes equipment for primary processing of poultry, further processing of poultry, red meat, fish and potatoes and processing of liquid food (dairy and juice) products.
The transaction primarily concerns the various markets within the food processing industry.
