SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
1.1. The Commission has received notification of a proposed concentration pursuant to Article 4 of Council Regulation (EC) No 139/2004 (the “EUMR”). On 8 October 2012, First Reserve Management, L.P. and SK Capital Partners notified their intention to acquire indirect joint control of TPC Group Inc.
2.2. The areas of activities of the undertakings concerned by the notified concentration are as follows:
FR – a private equity and infrastructure investment firm specializing in the energy industry
SK – a private investment firm with a focus on the specialty materials, chemicals and healthcare sectors
TPC – a manufacturer of value added products derived from petrochemical raw materials, such as C4 and C3 hydrocarbons, which are used in the manufacture of performance and specialty chemicals
