SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
On 21 March 2022, the European Commission received a notification of a proposed concentration pursuant to Article 4 of Council Regulation (EC) No 139/2004, by which Covéa Coopérations (“Covéa Coopérations”) intends to acquire sole control over PartnerRe Ltd (“PartnerRe”), by acquisition of shares.
Covéa is a mutual group headquartered in France active in life and non-life insurance, and to a minor extent in reinsurance, insurance distribution and asset management. Covéa is primarily active in the EEA.
PartnerRe is a global reinsurance company headquartered in Bermuda, owned by Exor Nederland N.V., which is in turn 100% owned by Exor N.V., the investment holding company of the Agnelli family. PartnerRe is active in almost all EEA countries. The group is active in the EEA in life and non-life reinsurance and, to a negligible extent, in non-life insurance.
