SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
The notified transaction involves the acquisition of sole control of MobiServ UK Co Limited and its subsidiaries ("Phones4u Group") by CIE Management II Limited ("CIE") (as the general partner and manager or attorney of certain private equity funds ("BC Funds")), a company ultimately controlled by BC Partners Holdings Limited. The Parties have requested treatment of the concentration under the Commission Notice on a simplified procedure for treatment of certain concentrations.
The business activities of the undertakings concerned are:
- CIE: general partner and manager or attorney of the BC Funds (which are private equity investment funds); and
- Phones4u Group: a retailer of mobile telecommunications and related products, as well as non-life insurance services, nearly exclusively in the United Kingdom.
