SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
1.On 4 June 2012, Glencore International plc notified a transaction whereby it acquires sole control over Viterra Inc. within the meaning of Article 3(1)(b) of Council Regulation (EC) No 139/2004.
2.Glencore International plc is the ultimate holding company of the Glencore Group, headquartered in Switzerland. The Glencore group is active in three main business areas: metals and minerals, energy products and agricultural products.
3.Viterra is headquartered in Canada and is a global agri-business with three business units, namely Grain Handling and Marketing, Agri-Products (which sells seed, crop protection products, fertilizer and equipment used by farmers), and Processing (which produces food and feed ingredients).
