SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
On 29/09/2006 August 2006, the Commission received a notification of a proposed concentration pursuant to Article 4 of Council Regulation (EC) No. 139/2004 by which Polski Koncern Naftowy Orlen S.A. ("PKN", Poland) acquires within the meaning of Article 3(1)(b) of Council Regulation (EC) No. 139/2004 sole control of the undertaking AB Maûeikiu Nafta and of its subsidiaries ("Mazeikiu", Lithuania) by way of purchase of shares.
The business activities of the undertakings concerned are:
• for PKN: refining of crude oil and other intermediate feedstock for sale, at ex-refinery/cargo, non-retail and retail levels, of refined products, petrochemicals and chemicals;
• for Mazeikiu: refining of crude oil and other intermediate feedstock for sale, at ex-refinery/cargo, non-retail and retail levels, of refined products.
