Alphabet Holding Company, Inc., a special purpose vehicle owned and controlled by a fund managed by Carlyle, intends to acquire sole control over NBTY, Inc.
-- The Carlyle Group: global alternative asset manager, which sponsors funds that invest globally across four investment disciplines (buyout, credit alternatives, growth capital and real estate) in a range of industries.
-- NBTY, Inc.: Manufactures and sells vitamins and nutritional supplements.
