SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
The State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (“SOCAR”) has submitted a notification of a proposed concentration pursuant to which it intends to acquire sole control of the Hellenic Gas Transmission System Operator (“DESFA”) within the meaning of Article 3(1)(b) of Council Regulation (EC) No 139/2004.
The business activities of the undertakings concerned are as follows:
SOCAR is involved in exploring oil and gas fields, producing, processing, and transporting oil, gas, and gas condensate, marketing petroleum and petrochemical products in domestic and international markets, and supplying natural gas to industry and the public in Azerbaijan.
DESFA operates, maintains, manages, exploits and develops the Hellenic Gas Transmission System.
