SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
On December 9, 2014, Altice announced that it had signed a definitive agreement with Oi to purchase the Portuguese and Hungarian assets of PT Portugal SGPS. The transaction qualifies for review under the EU Merger Regulation.
a) Altice is a multinational cable and telecommunications company with a presence in three regions: Western Europe (France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Portugal and Switzerland), Israel and the Overseas Territories (the French Caribbean and the Indian Ocean regions and the Dominican Republic).
b) PT Portugal is a telecommunications and multimedia operator with activities extending across all telecommunications segments in Portugal: fixed line, mobile, multimedia, data and business solutions.
