SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
1.On 2 June 2017, the Commission received a notification of a proposed concentration pursuant to Article 4 of Council Regulation (EC) no 139/2004 (the Merger Regulation), by which Hitachi Automotive Systems Ltd (HIAMS) and Honda Motor Group (Honda) will establish a full-function joint venture within the meaning of Article 3(4) of the Merger Regulation.
2.HIAMS is wholly owned by Hitachi Ltd, which is the parent company of the Hitachi group of companies and a publicly traded company. HIAMS is active in the production and supply of automotive products and technologies.
3.Honda is the parent company of the Honda group of companies and a publicly traded company. Honda is active in the production and distribution of automobiles, motorcycles and power products.
4.The Joint Venture will be active in the production and supply of electric motors.
