Description of the concentration
Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V. (“Philips”) is a globally operating company active in lighting, consumer lifestyle and healthcare products, headquartered in the Netherlands.
Saeco International Group S.p.A. (“SIG”) is a manufacturer of consumer and professional espresso machines and vending machines based in Italy. SIG operates under the brands Saeco, Gaggia and Spidem.
An agreement between the parties of 23 May 2009 enables Philips to acquire control of SIG.
The proposed acquisition essentially concerns the consumer espresso machines market within the Community.
