Description of the concentration
ElringKlinger AG and Plastic Omnium New Energies S.A. intend to set a focus on zero emission technology, particularly hydrogen mobility. For that reason, the two automotive suppliers set up a full-functional joint venture in Germany. It will be established as a German limited liability company named “EKPO Fuel Cell Technologies”.
The new entity will be engaged in the research and development, design, manufacturing and sale of fuel cell stacks and related engineering services, and fuel cell stack components primarily for the automotive industry.
Additionally, ElringKlinger intends to sell its subsidiary ElringKlinger Fuelcell Systems Austria GmbH to Plastic Omnium New Energies S.A. This transaction is aimed at strengthening Plastic Omnium’s expertise in fuel cell systems.
ElringKlinger AG is the ultimate parent company of the German ElringKlinger group, an automotive supplier with international operations, that specializes in lightweight solutions, e-mobility, sealing and shielding technology, tooling and engineering services.
Plastic Omnium New Energies S.A. is a Belgian indirect subsidiary of the French Compagnie Plastic Omnium SE. The Plastic Omnium group is an automotive supplier with international operations, offering exterior components (especially bumpers and front-end modules) on the one hand (intelligent exterior systems and HBPO divisions) as well as fuel storage and delivery systems (including tanks and filler pipes), high pressure storage systems and depollution systems on the other hand.
