Description of the concentration

Mayr-Melnhof Cartonboard International GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mayr-Melnhof Karton AG, Austria, intends to acquire 100% of the shares in, and sole control over, International Paper – Kwidzyn sp. z o.o., Poland, from International Paper Investments (Luxembourg) S.A R.L, an affiliate of International Paper Company, USA.

Mayr-Melnhof is a producer of cartonboard and packaging products, in particular folding cartons. To a limited extend, Mayr-Melnhof also produces (mechanical) pulp for sale on the market. Mayr-Melnhof’s is headquartered in Vienna, Austria, and is active worldwide.

The target company operates an integrated pulp and paper mill in Kwidzyn, Poland. Its products comprise uncoated woodfree paper, cartonboard (more precisely: “folding box board”), and to a limited extent kraft paper and pulp.
