SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
INEOS proposes to acquire sole control of Lanxess’ engineering thermoplastic resins business (the “Business”). This acquisition constitutes a concentration in accordance with Article 3(1)(b) of Council Regulation (EC) No 139/2004 (the “Merger Regulation”).
The business activities of the undertakings concerned are as follows:
• INEOS is a leading global manufacturer of petrochemicals, specialty chemicals and oil products. It comprises 18 businesses each with a major chemical company heritage. INEOS’ production network spans 68 manufacturing facilities in 17 countries throughout the world.
• The Business produces styrene based copolymers, a grade of engineering thermoplastic resin. It has over 50 years experience in the sector and has production facilities in all important business regions in the world. It is currently a wholly-owned within the Lanxess Group.
