Description of the concentration

The notification involves the proposed indirect acquisition by Platinum Equity Group of sole control of Grupo Urbaser within the meaning of Article 3(1)(b) of the Merger Regulation.

The Platinum Equity Group is headquartered in Los Angeles, CA, and has offices in Boston, Greenwich, New York, London, and Singapore. Platinum Equity Group specialises in the merger, acquisition and operation of companies that provide services and solutions to customers in a broad range of businesses, including information technology, telecommunications, logistics, metal services, manufacturing and distribution. The Platinum Equity Group operates companies that serve customers around the world including Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe, North America and South America.

Grupo Urbaser provides services in two fundamental areas: urban services (primarily including waste collection and related activities and water management services) as well as waste treatment activities (such as municipal solid waste treatment and industrial waste treatment). Grupo Urbaser is headquartered in Madrid (Spain) and serves more than 20 countries mainly located in Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America and South America.
