SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
1.1. Axalta Coating Systems Ltd. (“Axalta”), a global coatings company, proposes to purchase sole control of Essex Group Holding Europe S.à.r.l. and IVA Electrical Insulation Materials (Changzhou) Co., Ltd. (together, “IVA”) from Superior Essex Inc. (“Superior Essex”), a global leader in the design, manufacture and supply of wire and cable products (the “Proposed Transaction”).
2.2. Both Axalta and IVA are active in the manufacture and sale of wire enamels. The primary market for the sale of wire enamels is to those businesses which are active in the market for the manufacture of winding wires (primarily made from aluminium or copper), which are insulated with wire enamel to give the wires particular desirable properties such as improved insulation or thermal resistance.
