SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
On 8 November 2013, the Commission received a notification of a proposed concentration pursuant to Article 4 of Council Regulation (EC) N°139/2004 by which the TRIMET group and Electricité de France S.A. will acquire, through a special purpose vehicle, joint control over two aluminium production facilities located in France, namely in Saint-Jean-de Maurienne and Castelsarrasin.
The business activities of the undertakings concerned are:
-- TRIMET: manufacture of aluminium including extrusion billets, rolling ingots, remelting ingots, liquid aluminium and die-cast parts, trade of aluminium products and scraps as well as copper products;
-- EDF: generation and wholesale of electricity, transmission, distribution and retail supply of electricity, provision of other electricity-related services and wholesale and retail of natural gas;
-- New Company: production of aluminium products.
The Transaction falls within the scope of Council Regulation (EC) N°139/2004 on the control of concentrations between undertakings.
