SECTION 1.2
Description of the concentration
On 18 April 2006, the Commission received a notification of a proposed concentration by which Petroplus International B.V., an undertaking controlled by the Carlyle Group, will acquire sole control (by way of an acquisition of the entire issued share capital) of European Petroleum Holdings NV.
The business activities for the undertakings concerned are:
• Petroplus International BV: refining of crude oil, wholesale marketing of refined oil products, storage of crude oil, refined mineral oil products, (petro)chemicals, vegetable oil and other liquid bulk products, oil tank cleaning and trading in petrochemical products.
• European Petroleum Holdings NV: refining of crude oil, wholesale marketing of refined petroleum products, retail sales of fuels and trading in crude oil and refined petroleum products.
